The number of suspected cases of the Ômicron variant investigated in Brazil goes to 6

In addition to the first suspected case of the Ômicron variant that the Federal District Health Department is investigating, three other cases of the variant are being analyzed in the laboratory for genetic sequencing.

According to the calculation of the CNN, with this, the number of suspected patients with Ômicron in the Federal District increases to four. Now, there are six cases of the variant that are under investigation to determine if the new strain caused the disease.

In the last update made by the state secretariats to the Ministry of health, 4 suspected cases were reported in the Federal District, one in Minas Gerais and one in São Paulo. All are under analysis awaiting the sequencing of the results.

The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) informed this Tuesday (30) that samples from two Brazilians who, preliminarily, had positive laboratory results for the Ômicron variant of Covid-19, will be sent for confirmatory laboratory analysis, after testing performed by the Albert Einstein laboratory.
