The only continent located in all four hemispheres of the Earth

The planet is divided into four parts by latitude and longitude. Ecuador divides the earth horizontally into two halves, while the First Meridian divides the earth vertically into two halves. Both latitudes and longitudes are fantastic lines used to classify the planet into different regions.

For example, the part of the planet north of Ecuador is referred to as the Northern Hemisphere while the part south of Ecuador is known as the Southern Hemisphere. The location of continents between these hemispheres determines the weather conditions and the seasons they will experience throughout the year.

While the hemispheres divide most of the continents, Africa is located in all four hemispheres of the earth, which are the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Hemispheres. Therefore, Africa can be described as the only continent that has part of its land in both the First Meridian and the Ecuador.

Ecuador, therefore, passes through a total of seven countries in Africa. Starting from west to east these are: the island nation of Sοo Tomé and Prσιncipe, Gabon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda, Kenya and Somalia. On the other hand, the First Meridian crosses five African countries. Starting from north to south, these are: Algeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Tongo and Ghana.

Due to the strategic position between the hemispheres, in fact, the Africa experiences the most favorable patterns for the climate and weather all year round. Unlike other continents that are known to experience different seasons throughout the year, most of the African countries do not have well-defined seasons.
