The reign of the Bhutan, known as “the happiest country in the world”, experienced an event to mark on the calendar. The thirty-one year old regina Jetsun Pema, in official trip in various districts of the small Himalayan state, he did not want to leave his children, Jigme Namgyel, 5 years, e Ugyen, 1. So it has them brought with you. And the little ones, as shown by the photos posted on Instagram by the sovereign father Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck, 41 years old – became the absolute stars of the tour.

The photos were taken during a visit to Trongsa in the Bumthang district. With the queen, in addition to her children, there were other members of the royal family including the Princess Euphelma (sister of the king) with her husband. All eyes, however, were on the sons of the sovereigns, in particular on little Ugyen, born in full pandemic in March 20020. The boy, who, like his brother, wore traditional Bhutan clothes, showed himself to be very lively and curious about all new things that surrounded him. On the other hand, it is normal at his age. At one point he even gave a funny curtain: grabbed a lady’s scarf – perhaps interested in the hanging fringes – forcing his mother to pull him away to try to keep the distance imposed by the anti Covid protocols. The older brother Jigme, heir to the throne, at only 5 years old, on the other hand, he already has the impeccable manners of a future king. And with his little brother he has always shown himself to be patient, affectionate and available. In the photos released by the Royal House we see him for example while teaches him how to light a candle in one of the many temples they have visited.

The new images convey a lot of serenity, as indeed all those to which we have become accustomed, in ten years of marriage celebrated last October, the royals of Bhutan. Protagonists of a beautiful love story. Ten years apart, Jigme fell in love with Jetsun when she was only 17. The two begin a secret relationship, but she wants to fly to London to study International Relations, Psychology and History of Art at Regent’s College. Jigme pleases her: she feels she has found a soul mate, even if it is a bourgeois. In 2011, Jigme can’t wait any longer, so she agrees to marry him. It was October 13, 2011 when Jigme brought the bourgeois Jetsun to the altar, transforming her into the youngest queen in the world. It was a wedding of a thousand and one nights: the wedding celebrations lasted three days and involved the whole country. And the “Dragon King”, immediately after the “yes”, made a memorable gesture: although the law of Bhutan allows polygamy, he solemnly swore that he would give up the right to take other wives. “I chose her and she alone”. The couple’s firstborn was born in 2016. Then in 2020 the rulers gave their people another good news: the birth of their second child. And now the little ones, for the first time, have accompanied the mother queen on an official journey.
