The Rostec Corporation intends to develop the first Russian processor of a new generation based on the RISC-V architecture. And this company needs almost 30 billion rubles.
Work on the CPU will be carried out in conjunction with Yadro. The processor is expected to be ready by 2025. It is planned to equip PCs with such CPUs operating in the structures of the Rostec company itself, as well as in the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. Already in 2025, the company plans to sell 60,000 PCs based on new processors for 7 billion rubles.
As for investments in the project, they are estimated at 27.8 billion rubles, of which 9.8 billion are planned to be received from the state, and the remaining 18 billion will be allocated by customers, that is, Rostec itself and its subsidiary National Technologies. One of the experts commented on the situation to the source, stating that the very 27.8 billion rubles is more than was invested in the development of the Elbrus and Baikal processors combined.
Speaking directly about the processor, it will be an eight-core solution with a frequency of about 2 GHz, manufactured using the 12 nm process technology.
