Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had dinner with the leader of the main opposition in Spain and President of the People’s Party, Pablo Cassado.
They focused, among other things, on pandemics and vaccinations, the Recovery Fund and the course of the European economy, noting the need to deepen European defense cooperation.
On immigration, the two men agreed on the need for a common immigration policy in the EU, stressing that the two countries face similar challenges. They referred to the importance of respect for human rights and the rule of law by all countries in the region.
They also discussed the Turkish provocation and the recent decisions of the Spanish government Sanchez to sell defense equipment in Ankara. In fact, Pablo Cassado defended the territorial integrity of EU member states and stressed the need for solidarity between Member States, with particular reference to Greece and Cyprus.
Also present at the dinner were ND MP and Secretary of International Relations Tassos Hadjivassiliou and his Spanish counterpart Valentina Martinez.
