This week, one bride – who is believed to be from the US – posted pictures of her big day on social media. An anonymous Reddit user shared the images on the Wedding Shaming forum when he spotted her mother in law and her unusual choice of clothes for the wedding.
The photo in question shows the woman, who is said to be the groom’s mother, standing next to the couple dressed in a black mini dress with a large opening at the bust.
Inviting 503,000 members to comment on the outfit, the person who posted the photo anonymously wrote: “Mother-in-law look at church wedding.”

The image has been divisive and has garnered over 400 comments.
“At least it’s not white,” one wrote, in an attempt to defend the woman.
“It’s black though, like she’s going to a sexy funeral,” remarked another.
“It’s the ‘look at me’ style. It’s so embarrassing,” was another comment.
Calling the woman “kitsch,” a fifth commenter remarked: “She’s screaming for attention.”

“In some cultures, black is considered rude, as it can express mourning. But it’s considered okay to others,” someone commented. “But in some cultures, showing up in a tiny skirt to church can be considered inappropriate.”
Still others said they would have no problem if their own relatives showed up to their wedding in a matching outfit. Defending the woman, one commenter gushed: “If my mom was this good looking, I’d tell her to put it on.”
“I have absolutely no problem with the dress. If my body was as perfect as hers, I would wear it too. Don’t wear white”someone else supported her.
Some have noted that black at weddings is no longer considered a stylistic faux pas with several saying they even chose it for their bridesmaids’ dresses.
