The US is doing everything it can to prepare military support assistance to the Ukrainian army after the new Russian attacks, as Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser of US President Joe Biden, explained yesterday. A new military aid package will be announced “within the next few days” to speed up “the pace of deliveries”, Mr Sullivan added during a news conference. Russia on Friday launched a large-scale operation in Ukraine's Kharkiv region (northeast). Its eponymous capital, close to the border, is the country's second largest city. The operation, which prompted Kiev to mobilize reserves to send reinforcements, raises concerns that Russian successes in the field are imminent. The Ukrainian government has warned for weeks that Moscow could launch attacks against border regions in northeastern Ukraine amid delays in arms and ammunition deliveries from Kiev's Western allies and shortages of combat-experienced personnel.
