More than 10 years ago the last chapters of the iconic Cartoon Network cartoon were released, but now the first photographs of the new series of The Powerpuff Girls in format live-action have been revealed.
The original story was focused on Bombón, Bubble and Acorn, three little girls with superpowers that were created in a laboratory by Professor Utonio. And everything seems to indicate that this new project of the CW chain will carry the same tone.
The photos show the three protagonists in the characteristic costumes of the famous cartoon. This exclusive glimpse comes from the footage of the first pilot episode of the series, which will feature girls in their twenties who resent losing their childhood to fighting evil.
The main cast consists of Chloe Bennet as Bombón, Dove Cameron as Bubble and Yana Perrault as Acorn. The series is written by Diablo Cody, Heather Regnier, and Greg Berlanti, who worked on projects such as Juno, Sleepy Hollow Y Arrow.
Up to this point, the costumes have caused a number of negative comments on social media due to their simplicity. However, it is believed that there is a possibility that it is only a first prototype and that as the story progresses, the entire wardrobe will change.
If that’s the case, this first episode may refer to the dresses they used to wear as children fighting crime. Still, more details are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
