During a press conference at the headquarters of the General Command of the Military Police in São Paulo this Wednesday (17), the PM stated that he analyzed the images recorded by residents, which show PMs moving at the scene where there was a shooting that left a boy with 7 years old injured in a community in Paraisópolis, and found that there was no violation of the crime scene.
The police stated that they also analyzed the images from the body cameras of the police officers who participated in the action and the videos show that the officers were signaling the location where the projectiles were.
“The police officers there apparently, at first, give the impression that they could be collecting cases… But if we analyze very carefully, we will see that they are circulating the places where these cases were found and then isolated the place. So, according to this analysis, there is no reason for the police officers to be removed”, stated Colonel Macedo, Head of Social Communication at PMSP.
Asked if this is the standard procedure, the colonel stated that the procedure is to “preserve the scene of the crime”, but that the PMs can help by flagging the evidence.
The PM also stated that the injury to the boy's face was not caused by shots from the police's weapons. According to the corporation, a tomography performed by the child at the hospital did not show a perforating injury (caused by a bullet).
The PM's ombudsman's office stated this Wednesday that it had opened a procedure to investigate the case and requested the removal of the police officers who participated in the action.
