In response to a question about the government’s support for the municipalities to deal with the energy crisis, Mr. Petsas replied that already in the first half of 2022, 218 million euros have been allocated to the municipalities, when the estimate made with the KEDE at the beginning of of the year estimated the additional energy costs for the municipalities at approximately 270 million euros on an annual basis and continued:

“Already, in the first half of the year we gave 218 million euros. And we will not stop here, we will continue to strengthen, to stand next to the self-government”.

“The government proves with actions that Thessaloniki is at the center of its interest,” said Mr. Kalafatis and added: “Today we announce the support of the municipality with twelve million for expropriations in this very important project… If you consider that the last week they have been approved, but 30 million euros from the Recovery Fund for improvements in the public space again for the municipality of Thessaloniki, will see that many things are actually being done for Thessaloniki”.

Mrs. Antoniou pointed out that “by order of the prime minister” and with the cooperation of the co-competent Ministries of Interior, Finance and the municipality and Attiko Metro and OSETH, another project is moving forward to be delivered to the citizens.

And it is extremely important that all these have been studied and we are in the phase, after the expropriations, of their implementation”.
