Noel is 51 years old and lives in Wisconsin, United States. When he was just a child he suffered a serious school accident, since the brother of one of his classmates threw a sharp object at him, causing a serious injury to one of his eyes, for which he had to undergo eye surgery and remain hospitalized throughout one year. This caused him sadness, because despite the fact that his relatives visited him daily, he could not see his friends and play with them. For him that was the longest year of his entire life.

An empathetic man with a lot of love to give

During his stay at the hospital, Noel learned to value the presence of people in his life. On one occasion his family brought him a puppet that he named Fido, with which the nights and afternoons alone were less boring. Right at that moment he understood that all children who were hospitalized should have an unconditional partner, because even if it is a toy, it prevents loneliness and sadness from flooding them at times like these. When he grew up, he decided to create an amazing foundation.

No child should feel lonely or abandoned

En 2011, Noel fundó The Bear Hug Project, organization that buys teddy bears at Build-A-Bear Workshop, they are baptized with a unique name and later handed over to their new owners.

Noel and several of his collaborators fully understand what it is like to be in a hospital for several weeks. And they also know that for the little ones this is extremely complicated, so they are in charge of going to hospitals and giving them a teddy bear, making them feel a little more accompanied.

He has donated more than three thousand teddy bears!
