Tragedy in northern Portugal, where the charred bodies of an elderly couple were found yesterday Monday inside a burnt-out car after they tried to escape the flames that had surrounded the city of Mursa, as announced by the authorities.
The mayor of Mursa, Mario Artur Lopez, reported that the unfortunate elderly were about 80 years old and that the car they were riding in crashed into a cliff while trying to escape the fire that had engulfed a large part of the area.
Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Souza expressed his deep sorrow over the accident and his condolences to the families of the victims.
