Thriller with McAvoy and horror film from the director of “District 9”: what to watch in the cinema from October 14

From October 14, the audience’s favorite James McAvoy will delight the audience with another work. Also, after a long hiatus, Neil Blomkamp, director of District 9 and The Robot Called Chappy, returns to the theaters with an unexpected job. And this is not all the novelties awaiting Russian viewers.

“Gone” (My Son)

The film “Gone”, which is actually called “My Son”, is another example of genius Russian localization. Indeed, according to the plot, the main character’s son disappears, and he has to search for himself. And more recently, David Fincher’s “Gone Girl” has entered the top 250 films according to KinoPoisk. So why not put these two facts together and name something like that, as they did with The Hitman’s Code, The Mindhunter and other films that have been released in films over the past few months. Returning to Gone Gone, the film is directed and written by Christian Karion (Merry Christmas) and starred by James McAvoy.

Gloomy and rainy, but beautiful and mesmerizing Scotland. During his next business trip, Edmond Murray learns that his seventeen-year-old son has been kidnapped. The boy was in a children’s camp and it was from there that he disappeared. The police are unable to find him because there are practically no leads. The detective is suspicious. that the disappearance of the child may be related to Edmond’s professional activities. Nevertheless, at one point, an order is received from above to stop the active investigation of this case. Then the father himself embarks on a search for his son. Interestingly, the world premiere of the film took place on September 15 simultaneously in theaters and on the Peacock digital platform.

Demonic

Neil Blomkamp is one of the talented directors who are not very lucky in their careers. His District 9 and Chappy the Robot are undoubtedly among the best science fiction films. However, not very good reviews from critics and weak box office in Hollywood play such an important role that talent is no longer being paid attention to. Therefore, without the support of major studios, Blomkamp began making short horror films. Some of them were better than today’s high-budget horror games. And now he had a chance to show himself in this genre in full meter. The film was filmed entirely in Canada during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

One day, a young girl Carly receives an unexpected offer from a modern techno-medical clinic. Thanks to technology capable of creating projections of the consciousness of other people, she can immerse herself in the mind of her mother, who has been accused of more than twenty murders and has been in a coma for a long time. The girl thought that this would help to find the true cause of her mother’s cruelty. But it turned out that the staff of the clinic are representatives of the modern order of exorcists who, using this technology, catch the evil spirits that lurk in the souls and minds of people.

The Addams Family 2

In 2019, the legendary Addams family returned to the big screens as a full-length cartoon. The tape has grossed more than two hundred million dollars at the worldwide box office with a budget of twenty-four million. Naturally, the sequel was launched into development instantly. Interestingly, the premiere was originally scheduled for October 22, 2021, and despite the coronavirus pandemic, the cartoon was completed even ahead of schedule. The directors of the first part – Greg Tiernan and Konrad Vernon – returned to their duties in the sequel.

When the father prefers long walks in inclement weather, the mother believes that black is the brightest, and the cemetery is a favorite playground for children, life in a sunny and cheerful city can seem horror. Therefore, the Addams family decides to go on an unforgettable eerie journey. Marticia, Gomez, Wednesday, Pugsley, and Uncle Fester are loaded into the family’s traveling hearse to embark on new adventures and friends even more eccentric than themselves. The main thing is that during the trip everyone remains alive.

“Man of God”

Serbian-American Elena Popovic spent 2020 in Greece to shoot the film Man of God. She acted as a director, screenwriter and producer of the picture. The tape is dedicated to the life of Nektarios of Aegins, one of the most revered saints in Greece. The world premiere of the film took place on April 25, 2021 as part of the main competition of the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival, where it received the Audience Award. It is interesting that together with the Greek actor Aris Servetalis, who played the role of Nectar of Aeginsky, Alexander Petrov and Mickey Rourke starred in the film.

Metropolitan Nectarios of Pentapolis slandered and expelled from Egypt. He worries that he cannot meet with Patriarch Sophronius and explain himself, because he treated him like his own father. Many more trials and tribulations will fall to his lot. Even in Greece, during discussions on the structure of a nunnery, he again encounters misunderstanding from his fellows. However, the man of God remained true to his principles to the end, inspiring people around him.
