Bye! My name is Benedetta De Luca, I am a trainee lawyer. I live in Salerno and I am one of the first fashion influencers with disabilities in Italy. I say with disabilities because I was born with a rare disease, agenesis of the sacred. I have undergone 18 surgeries and have been in hospital for nearly 12 years of my life. Today, I talk about my life in a wheelchair and with crutches to make people understand the value of diversity. Always a lover of the world of fashion and beauty, I have tried to break down stereotypes and prejudices on disability also through the world which, par excellence, celebrates perfection, that is the world of fashion. I also founded my own inclusive fashion brand: Italian Inclusive Fashion.
2- How do you express your creativity on TikTok?
I do it by telling my life, especially with the weapon of irony and self-irony, which I consider essential in various aspects of life, obviously always used with respect and intelligence. I also create a lot of motivational videos.
3- What video did you most enjoy making?
I confess that when an idea comes to my mind I don’t think twice about it and start recording as soon as possible, whether it’s at home or on the street. Most of the time I laugh at my jokes alone! So basically, I don’t have one in particular.

4- What are your favorite effects?
I use very few effects, I always try to create spontaneous and natural videos. At most I use slow motion to create a little more elegance in some videos.
5- Music: Italian or foreign?
Usually foreign, but I also love the Italian one. On TikTok I participate in the trends of the moment.
6- What do you watch on TikTok: do you have favorite accounts?
Videos that make me smile. Stories of everyday life with that touch of irony that drive me crazy! Then obviously videos of outfits, fashion and make-up and finally motivational videos for the right boost.
7- Can you give me some advice for making cool videos?
I believe that creativity is something that has to start from within us. Surely the number one advice is to never be ashamed, to try and try again and understand what content is best for you, to put your face to it, to let your audience know who you are, what your passions are. Then, of course, at the base there is always a good quality video (also made with the smartphone, not necessarily a reflex).

8- Where do you get inspiration for your videos from?
Surely I often take a look at other creators ”. When I propose an already existing video, however, I always try to give credits, which is a duty on everyone’s part. But the most beautiful inspirations usually come to me at night, while I sleep. I know, absurd!
9- One thing they don’t know about you?
Good question. Just a few weeks ago, thanks to a video found on TikTok by chance, perhaps I discovered that I am a multi-potential: I love doing several things at the same time, starting projects and carrying out the most disparate ideas. While before I thought I was dispersed, today perhaps I have discovered that I am multi-potential and it does not matter if I will not find a single path.
10- What is your secret dream?
First of all, the qualification as a lawyer in order to always fight for the weakest. Then I would certainly like to be a point of reference for different brands on diversity & inclusion, but also for social policy applied not only as a social mission, but precisely as a development strategy. Furthermore, I would also like to be able to change the television narrative of the world of disability by intervening in some programs not only to tell my story, but just as a professional in the sector, trying to change, in this way, also the aesthetic standards imposed by society.

11- What does TikTok represent for you?
TikTok for me it is a very useful tool for disseminating ideas, mine and those of the whole community. I hope to be able to bring more and more original contents capable of breaking down stereotypes and changing the perception that one has of the world of disability.
