Rylie Jouett is a girl who lives in Austin, Texas. At 19, she went on a date with a guy, but because she wasn’t into him anymore, she decided to ignore his messages. Six years later, she got a call to set up a job interview and it turned out that he was the recruiter.
The awkward situation ended up becoming the subject of a TikTok by the girl, who wrote the following report:
“Karma is the nastiest bitch I’ve ever met because six years ago, when I was 19, I ignored the nicest guy who had the best intentions for me. Tell me why he is the person interviewing me for a job I desperately need tomorrow?”
@ryliejouett you seriously cannot write better material #karma #fypシ #ghosting #dating #jobinterview
The video has over 2.2 million views. One of the social network users commented: “Your decision not to date him probably alleviates any conflict of interest in this interview.” Minutes before the appointment, Riley decided to respond to the comment with more details of the situation.
According to her, when the former hookup called her and recognized her, he said the situation was embarrassing and that he would check if there was a way for her to be hired at another location due to the “conflict of interests”.
“I was like ‘What? You’re not going to interview me just because we kissed once six years ago on a date? This is so weird,” she reported.
Riley reminded him that they are both adults committed to other people and, in the end, managed to talk him out of the interview.

In the third video she posted, Riley countered comments that she shouldn’t expose the entire situation on social media because it would hurt her getting the job. She said she found it extremely hilarious.
“Babies, it’s just a barista job,” he replied. “Y’all think I really give a shit for $9 an hour plus tip? Seriously, it’s not like I’m working for Elon Musk.”
In the video, she says she is more concerned about the distance from work to her home and her relationship with her ex-lover. “This man is a Scorpio, so I know he holds a grudge. My moon is in Scorpio, I know how it works,” she said. “Plus the fact that it’s 30 minutes from where I live. It has too many cons and too few pros for me to accept. [o trabalho]”.
About the brief romance with the recruiter, Riley says he was obsessed with her and that, being a Scorpio, it was very intense. “I wasn’t feeling the same as him and it’s my right to choose who I like and who I date. Could I have communicated better and not ignored him? Yes. But I was 19 and I’ve matured a lot since then, ”he vented.
