TIM announced this Friday (25) a strategic partnership with the fiber optic company V.Tal to expand the presence of its broadband product and accelerate the deployment of 5G service in Brazil.
V.Tal is controlled by funds from BTG Pactual, with a stake from Oi, which earlier announced that the digital infrastructure company will receive a contribution of BRL 2.5 billion from the Canada Pension Plan.
TIM intends to use V.tal’s neutral fiber optic network to grow in the fixed ultra-broadband market and make 5G viable in several cities across the country.
The contract, according to TIM, covers V.tal’s FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network coverage, which today has more than 18 million homes passed in all regions of the country, and the connection of more than 2,500 5G sites in a first phase.
“By opting for the neutral network business model in partnership with V.tal, we were able to quickly expand into new markets and improve our return on capital,” said TIM Brasil’s chief executive, Alberto Griselli, in a note.
“The partnership with TIM, being one of the largest operators in the country, is very strategic for V.tal as it solidifies our performance as the largest neutral network company in the market”, said the executive president of V.Tal, Amos Genish.
