Sarah Michelle Gellar 47, is back on television. After the success of seven seasons on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, she now plays Tanya Martin, chief of the Miami police department, in the series “Dexter: Original Sin “.
Unlike the role that made her famous, the actress now plays a strong and centered woman, moving away from the image of the intense and irreverent teenager from “Buffy”. In an interview with CNN she explained: “The interesting thing about Tanya is that, in the 90s, the period in which the series is set, it was very rare to find a woman as head of a department, especially in an environment as predominantly male as police work.”
She adds: “I think, in some ways, she is facing that same battle, but in a slightly different way.”
The actress also created a nickname for her character in the series: “McBuff”, in reference to the character that made her famous.
The series “ Dexter: Original Sin” debuted on Paramount+ this Friday (13). The first episode is now available. Chapters will be released weekly. The production tells the origin of one of the most famous serial killers on television.
Set in Miami in 1991, the plot follows Dexter in his transition from student to serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, he must learn to channel his inner darkness, according to the synopsis..
