Tourist bus overturns on Oswaldo Cruz (SP) highway and leaves 5 dead and 39 injured

A tourist bus overturned this Saturday morning (13) on the Oswaldo Cruz highway, in São Paulo, and left at least 5 dead and 39 injured. The information is from the Department of Highways and the Fire Department of São Paulo.

At least 27 victims were rescued and sent to the Emergency Room in Ubatuba, where the bus was going, on the north coast. Another 10 people were taken to the Emergency Room (PS) in Taubaté, and another 2 were taken to the PS in São Luís do Paraitinga.

According to the DER (Department of Highways of the State of São Paulo), there is a total ban on km 75 of the Oswaldo Cruz highway. The alternative route for drivers is to take the Tamoios highway.

In a statement, the Municipality of Ubatuba stated that “it is mobilized to assist victims and has the support of neighboring cities”.

“From early this Saturday morning, November 13th, [a Prefeitura] mobilized professionals from Santa Casa, SAMU, the Civil Defense and the Health Department, Social Welfare Department, Public Security and the Metropolitan Guard to provide support to the victims of the accident involving a tourist bus, which occurred around 7 am Saturday morning, November 13th, at km 75 of the Oswaldo Cruz highway”, says the report.
