Tragedy in France: 83-year-old woman ran over and killed a 10-year-old who was riding a bicycle

A 10-year-old girl, who had gone for a ride with other children on their bicycles and was run over by an 83-year-old driver in France on Wednesday, succumbed to her injuries today, AFP reports citing the prosecution, with the case being it is an occasion to open a public debate about whether someone should be allowed to drive for life. The death of the child, who was in a “very critical condition” after the accident in La Rochelle, in the western part of the country, was announced this morning, Arnaud Larez, the La Rochelle prosecutor, told AFP. The little girl was part of a group of a dozen children, aged 7 to 11, who were going to a community leisure center and cycling together when they were run over by an 83-year-old driver who had crossed into oncoming traffic on Wednesday morning.
