A tragedy sees the light of day. A woman in an advanced state of pregnancy was found dead in a park in Florida USA, with police talking about a suspicious death.
The body of 21-year-old Felicia Jones was found at park Riverview in Jacksonville last Saturday.
Police did not release her name, but the victim’s mother confirmed her identity.
Jacksonville’s sheriff’s office said Jones, who was nine months old pregnant and was expected to give birth next week, was spotted by passers-by, who alerted police.
Dead and unborn child
The death of the young woman was ascertained at the scene and an investigation was launched by the police into the case. Her unborn child is also dead.
“We are treating this investigation as a suspicious death,” said Homicide Officer Edwin Cayenne.
Few details of the case have been released and the cause of Jones’ death remains unknown. Police are investigating the neighborhood for possible eyewitnesses.
The victim’s aunt spoke about the tragic loss of the family, noting: “An unborn baby ready to be born in two weeks. A beautiful young girl who turned 21 last month.
We want people to see that we loved her. We were expecting her child. We wanted this baby. I was super excited about my nephew. They took all this from us. “We are upset at the moment.”
The family created a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses. “Our family is experiencing a huge loss. “We lost my niece and nephew,” the page states.
“This is a tragedy that our family did not expect and we can not believe that we lost Felicia and her unborn child.”
