Trump ‘Frustrated’ and ‘Upset’ After Indictment, Lawyer Claims

Donald Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, said his client is “frustrated” and “upset”. The statement was given to the press this Tuesday (04), outside the court, after the testimony of the former president, in New York.

Donald Trump is the subject of 34 inquiries, thus becoming the first former president in US history to face formal criminal charges. He pleaded not guilty to all alleged crimes.

Blanche accused the prosecutor in this case of turning a “wholly political issue” into a “political process”. “Not a good day… I don’t expect that to happen in this country. You don’t expect that to happen… with someone who has been president of the United States,” she said.

He referred to the indictment as “standard” and stated that it “alleges no federal crime and no state crime that has been violated.” Regarding the accusations against Trump, Blanche said “we are going to fight this, fight hard”.

Indictment

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office alleges in its indictment that Donald Trump was involved in a conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 US presidential election.

Prosecutors point out that Trump was part of an illegal plan to suppress negative information – including an illegal $130,000 payment ordered by the defendant to silence information that would harm his campaign.

The indictment alleges that the reason he committed the crime of falsifying business records was, in part, to “promote his candidacy”.

In court on Tuesday, Trump walked slowly in, scanning reporters in the courtroom. He looked at the judge when he was speaking. He will have to appear again before the authorities on December 4th of this year.
