Trump: “I would love to see Canada is the 51st state” of the USA

United States President Donald Trump said on Friday (24) that “he would love to see Canada being the 51st state” of the United States, claiming that the Canadians would have an advantage if the country were attached.

“They were very unpleasant with us in trade. Historically, Canada has been very bad with us, very unfair in trade… so we’ll see how it develops. I would love to see Canada being the 51st state [dos EUA]”The Republican said during a trip to North Carolina, the first in the country since taking office.

“Canadian citizens, if this happens, would have a large cut of rates because they are very taxed. They wouldn’t have to worry about army, they wouldn’t have to worry about many things. They would have better health care, much better. I think Canada people would like it if it were explained, ”he said.

Trump stated that the US “lose” 200 billion dollars with Canada – in reference to the neighboring country’s commercial surplus – arguing that they don’t need the products sold by Canadians as cars and foods “because we do the same products on the other side of border”.

Still during the press conference, the Republican called the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, as a governor and told him that the country should become a US state.

“I said… I call he from Governor Trudeau, but he is Prime Minister Trudeau, when he was Prime Minister… I asked him, ‘Why would we do that?’ [continuar com as trocas comerciais com o Canadá no valor que Trump informou] And he was unable to give me an answer. He said, ‘I don’t know,’ ”he said.

The prime minister announced the resignation of the position earlier this month. Still, he stressed that he would continue to perform his duties until a new leader was chosen.

“I said, ‘Do you think it’s fair that we’re paying 200 billion dollars to keep Canada working?’ And I asked him, ‘What do you think would happen if we didn’t do that?’ He said it would be a failed nation. So I said, ‘So you should be a state… Why are we paying all this money to Canada when we can use ourselves? ”Trump added.

Earlier this year, the president of the United States published a map with Canada attached to the United States.

After the case, Trudeau stated that there would be no “less chance” that his country would become part of the US.
