Donald Trump indicated on Saturday (25) that he could consider making the United States integrate the World Health Organization (WHO) again. The condition placed by the US President is the decrease in the amount that would have to pass on to the agency.
According to the Republican, the US paid $ 500 million a year to WHO, while China paid $ 39 million, even with a larger population.
By 2020, during his first term, Trump took the United States out of the organization. However, Joe Biden did the reintegration when he assumed in 2021.
During Saturday’s speech, the Republican criticized the Democrat for returning to WHO and “paying more than before,” claiming that there was a proposal for the US to pay $ 39 million a year to the agency.
Thus, he pointed out that he rejected the proposal, but could consider that the country reintegrates the World Health Organization if there is a reduction in financing.
“They offered me 39 million. They said ‘we will let you come back 39 [milhões de dólares]’. ‘So let’s reduce from 500 [milhões de dólares] to 39 [milhões de dólares]”, he said.
“I refused because it was very popular. I didn’t know if it would be well received for 39 [milhões de dólares]But maybe we could consider doing it again. I don’t know. Maybe we had to ‘clean’ a little, ”he added.
“But China pays 39 million [de dólares] by 1.4 billion [de pessoas]that we are paying 500 billion [de dólares] by 325 million [de pessoas]. I don’t know what the hell is wrong with these people, ”he concluded.
