Trump government officials seem to have dismissed more than 300 employees on Thursday night at the National Nuclear Security Service, which is tasked with management of the US Nuclear Stock in the context of wider redundancies by the Ministry of Energy. CNN writes that officials did not seem to know that this service oversees America’s nuclear weapons. A spokesman for the Ministry of Energy questioned the number of staff influenced, telling CNN that “fewer than 50 people” were “fired” by NNSA and that the redundant employees “mainly occupied administrative and officials”. According to CNN, redundant NNSA staff are located on the site in the facilities where nuclear weapons are manufactured and overseeing contractors who build nuclear weapons and inspect these weapons.
