TUI: Expects a return to profits in 2022 after losses shrink

Vacation group TUI has said it expects to return to profits again in 2022 with significant positive underlying gains from key activities, thanks to strong bookings as countries lift coronavirus-related travel restrictions.

In the second quarter, underlying taxes before interest and taxes shrank to € 330 million, almost halving from the € 633 million loss announced in the same period last year.

TUI also reported sales of € 2.13 billion in the second quarter of 2022, which began in October, nine times more than in the second quarter of 2021, as people rushed to travel again when possible.

The first sign was the Easter holidays. High travel demand and good business performance confirm the estimates. 2022 will be a good year with a strong travel summer, said the CEO.
