TUI: The increase in bookings will bring a continuous recovery from the pandemic

TUI has recorded 1.3 million bookings in the last four weeks, CEO Fritz Joussen said in a letter to company staff seen by Reuters on Sunday, indicating a continuing recovery from the pandemic.

The world’s largest tour operator announced in March 8.9 million bookings for the period from winter to summer this year, as the number of holidaymakers increased to pre-pandemic levels.

“Two trends are obvious: bookings are becoming significantly more premium and more are being made at the last minute,” Joussen wrote to staff. “This is good for turnover, profit margins and profitability.”

TUI said earlier this year that bookings for summer vacations were approaching pre-coronary levels due to rising demand, with a steady recovery in Britain following the lifting of restrictions.
