Turkey charts an independent course in NATO and “shuffles the deck”

Turkey is not an ordinary member of NATO and this is shown by the fact that it carves its own independent path within the alliance, sometimes clashing with the strong players such as the US or Germany. At the same time, it maintains contacts with Ukraine through the arms trade and with Russia, with which it cooperates in many economic sectors, even in nuclear energy. The website Politico wrote that Aaron Stein, president of the Institute for Foreign Policy Research, a US-based think tank, said that Turkey will insist on balancing because Ankara appears to have concluded that Ukraine cannot win and therefore it is good that he has a good relationship with Moscow.
