Turning to the murder of Ilenia Fabbri: the ex-husband and an acquaintance of hers arrested

“Sooner or later I’ll send someone to throw her a party.” So he said Claudio Nanni, husband of Ilenia Fabbri. And this he did according to what was reconstructed by the investigators who arrested him and an acquaintance of his because they were considered the principal and the material perpetrator of the murder of the woman which took place on February 6.

Behind the delight there would be the 53-year-old man’s hatred for his ex-wife. There were quarrels over economic issues. She had reported him mistreatment. The woman, in court, had been assigned the house in the street Corbara, in Faenza, where she was killed. The 46-year-old had also sued her husband for € 100,000 in lost wages when he worked in the family business.

The murder had immediately appeared premeditated. Ilenia Fabbri was surprised in her sleep by the killer when her daughter Arianna had just left the house with her father. A very early departure in the morning to go to Milan to pick up a new car. The killer, however, did not know that there was another person in the house, a friend of the girl. The young woman has been under protection in recent weeks as the only witness to the crime.

She immediately called her friend in the car saying that there was someone in the house and she had heard Ilenia scream: «Who are you? What do you want?”. She saw a man chasing her up the stairs and shut herself in the bedroom. When Nanni and Arianna arrive home, the woman is already dead, hit with a stab in the throat. Beside the body the knife used to kill.

The suspicions immediately fell on her husband and on a possible accomplice. Only two days ago the news had also arrived that Nanni had asked for the duplicates of a key similar to the one that opens the garage door in the basement of the house of the crime.
