TV series for Netflix began to be made in Russia

According to Kommersant, the world’s largest streaming service Netflix orders the production of series from Russian producers. At the moment, four or five projects are being discussed that will be created in Russia.

1-2-3 Production will be the first studio to create a series commissioned by Netflix, while the contract for the modern adaptation of Anna Karenina has already been signed. This studio is known for such TV shows as “Dyatlov Pass” and “Epidemic”, the rights to which were previously bought by Netflix.

The second project is being created by the Russkoye film company based on the script by Mikhail Shprits, who unsuccessfully offered the script to several Russian video platforms. The director will be Daria Zhuk, famous for the drama “Crystal”, which in 2018 was nominated for an Oscar from Belarus. Also called the series “Hydrogen” studio series, which will be directed by Eduard Hovhannisyan, who shot the “Chiki” series.

Until now, Netflix has not ordered production in Russia, buying only ready-made series. Previously, “Epidemic” was sold for a record one and a half million dollars.
