A man attacked with a knife and slightly injured two people in Stuttgart’s main train station. The assailant tried to escape, but was arrested an hour later by police officers who were in the area. According to the BILD newspaper, the arrested person is a 26-year-old German and the authorities do not believe that the attack had a terrorist motive. “The acts of violence affect us all, and in the coming days we will coordinate with the federal police in order to decide whether a further intensification of the police presence at the stations is required,” a German Railways spokesman told the newspaper. These days, due to the holding of the European football championship, the presence of heavily armed police is increased, especially in places where many people gather and in airports and railway stations, while in these areas it is forbidden to bring anything that can considered a “weapon”, even scissors.
