British police are conducting intensive searches after two suitcases believed to contain human remains were found on the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, southwest England. Police said they received information about a man carrying a suitcase and behaving suspiciously on the bridge shortly before midnight on Wednesday, but when officers arrived on the scene he had already left, leaving the suitcase behind. A second suitcase was found a short distance away. Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement today that the two suitcases were believed to contain human remains. “This is a very unfortunate event and I fully understand the concern it will cause in our communities,” said Bristol Police Chief Vics Hayward-Mellen. “Our priority is to find the man who took the bags to the bridge, to identify the deceased and to inform his relatives,” he added.
