Uber launched, this Thursday (24), a feature that allows users to request rides through WhatsApp. In the initial phase, the new tool is available, for the time being, for the cities of Teresina (PI), São Luís (MA), Sobral (CE) and Juazeiro do Norte (CE).

To request the service, you need to send a message to the number (11) 94488-3478 and log in to Uber directly via WhatsApp. Those who do not have an account can register there, informing the CPF.

Next, the user must follow the steps indicated by the chatbot, indicating mode (if UberX or Uber Moto), origin and destination of the trip.

The function, according to Fabio Sabba, director of communication for Uber in Brazil, can help those who are “less familiar with smartphones or do not have enough space in their cell phone memory”, for example.

For now, the tool still has some limitations. According to the company, trips can only be requested via the messaging app from 6 am to 10 pm and must be paid in cash to the driver.

Uber points out that rides requested through the new functionality have security features, such as GPS registration and driver checking.

Brazil is the second country, among the 63 in which Uber operates, to receive the new function. India was the first to launch the modality in 2021. There is still no forecast for expanding the tool to other cities.
