Ukraine: Hundreds of corpses of Russian soldiers stored in refrigerated trains

Ukrainian military authorities today loaded the corpses of Russian soldiers they collected after the fighting in Kyiv and the Chernihiv region into refrigerated wagons.

Volodymyr Liamzin, head of the civil-military cooperation service, said his country was acting in accordance with international law and was ready to return the dead to Russia.

“According to international humanitarian law, which Ukraine adheres to faithfully, once the phase of active conflict is over, the sides must return the bodies of the other country’s soldiers. Ukraine is ready to return the bodies to the attacker,” he said.

Liamzin said there are many refrigerated trains parked in various parts of Ukraine, where the bodies of Russian soldiers are kept. Hundreds of people are in a facility on the outskirts of Kiev, according to a video taken by Reuters.

“This train-refrigerator holds many hundreds of corpses of Russian occupiers. Most of them were transported from the Kiev region, some from Chernihiv and some other regions as well,” Liamzin said.
