Reactions have been caused by the former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko following media reports that she spent the holiday season in the United Arab Emirates while her country is in war with Russia. In fact, a member of parliament from Ukraine asked Tymoshenko’s party to expel her because of what came to light about her New Year’s trip.
“I am addressing the Fatherland party, calling for Yulia Vladimirovna Tymoshenko to be removed from the parliamentary faction and the party,” Mariana Bezuglaya, a member of Zelensky’s party and deputy head of the Ukrainian parliament’s Defense and National Security Committee, wrote on Facebook, according to the RT.

The MP also posted a photo allegedly showing the former prime minister vacationing on a Dubai beach. Tymoshenko, who served as Ukraine’s prime minister between 2007 and 2010, currently leads the Motherland party as well as the party’s faction in the national parliament.

Earlier on Friday, Ukrainskaya Pravda newspaper published a series of photos purportedly showing Tymoshenko and her family relaxing in Dubai. The former prime minister was reportedly holidaying in a villa owned by the five-star Kempinski hotel in the UAE. Ukrainian journalists said they photographed the politician on a private, closed beach on January 5.
In another article, Ukrainskaya Pravda reported, citing an unnamed img within Ukraine’s border guard service, that the former prime minister spent about a month in Dubai between December 27 and January 23. Her daughter moved to the UAE with her family before the start of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, the newspaper added.
Tymoshenko herself did not comment on the reports and her party did not respond to Bezuglaya’s call.
