Understand how to claim your rights as a consumer and the importance of taking action

Last year, the number of consumer complaints reached three million, two hundred thousand on the main monitoring platforms of the Federal Government. The biggest complaints were against banks, finance companies and card companies. Then come the telecommunications, e-commerce and air transport sectors.

Another survey carried out by the Brazilian Institute for Consumer Protection shows that health plans are also at the top of the complaints, even surpassing financial services. These are improper charges, contracts and abusive increases.

To understand how and where to claim your rights as a consumer, the CNN Our World this Saturday (27) receives Murilo Sechieri, professor and specialist in consumer law at OAB-SP.

The expert points out that there are guarantees provided for in the Constitution, one of which is clear information. When irregularities are found, Sechieri emphasizes that it is important that complaints are made to the competent bodies, which can be done over the internet, depending on the case.

“This communication from the supplier, even if not in official bodies, such as complaints on social networks, are very effective because of the concern that the company has with the image. But it is important to use this in parallel and complain on all available channels,” he says.
