Dengue is a disease that does not yet have a specific treatment or antiviral. Therefore, the increase in cases worries a specific group of people: fathers and mothers. After all, can children get dengue?
According to pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr Renato Kfouri, children can indeed get dengue and it can be as serious as in adults and the elderly.
“Preventing dengue fever in children is not very different from adults. Barrier methods such as screens, mosquito nets and repellents can be used for babies, just be careful with the type of repellent and the child's age. There is always a way to prevent this disease. The most effective way is to avoid mosquito breeding sites”, reports Kfouri, in the table “Together Against Dengue – A CNN Brasil action” .
