US: Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia’s judicial immunity does not affect relations with Riyadh

The USA they announced that the judicial immunity of her crown prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman is not going to affect relations between Washington and Riyadh.

In particular, the administration of American President Joe Biden decided yesterday, Thursday, that Mohammed bin Salman has immunity from any appeal for his murder Jamal Khashoggi.

“This has absolutely nothing to do with the bilateral relationship with Saudi Arabia, which, as you know, is strained right now,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters, stressing that the move has “no relation” “to the value in relation to the substance of the case”.

It is recalled that Khashoggi was murdered and dismembered in October 2018 by Saudi agents at the country’s consulate in Istanbul, an operation ordered by Prince Mohammed, as estimated by US intelligence services.

State Department lawyers pointed out that the Biden administration “has determined that defendant bin Salman, as head of a foreign government, enjoys immunity from the jurisdiction of US courts.”
