US elections: Bomb threats close polling places in Georgia

Bomb threats caused the closure of two polling places in Georgia this Tuesday (5), during the elections for president of the United States.

According to police information, there were five bomb threats in these two locations. Security authorities, however, reported that the alerts were false.

What is currently under discussion is whether there will be an extension of voting hours in these locations, which could cause a delay in the counting of votes in the state.

In addition to the 2024 presidential election being one of the most fierce in United States history, voting in Georgia is especially tense, as it is a swing state.

This is the name given to states where electoral results vary from one election to another, potentially defining the outcome of the election.

Pendulum states do not have a tendency or tradition in relation to voting. Unlike states like New York, which traditionally votes Democratic, or Texas, which has a tradition of favoring Republicans, swing states are territories of high unpredictability.
