US-Israel-Hamas deal to release hostages in exchange for five-day ceasefire, US newspaper writes

The Israel hopes that a significant number hostages can be released from the Hamas in the next days.

The above was stated today by Michael Herzog, the Israeli ambassador to the USA, during an interview on the “This Week” program of the ABC television network.

Earlier, Qatar once again expressed the position that only details of the hostage release agreement between Hamas and Israel remain.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said details remained sketchy on the agreement between the two sides to release some of the 238 hostages held in Gaza. He also stated that there is increasing optimism that a deal can be concluded.

“The challenges facing the deal are simply practical and logistical,” the Qatari prime minister said during a joint press conference with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell in Doha.

Borrell, in turn, pointed out that the decision of the UN Security Council on humanitarian pauses in Gaza should be implemented.

What does the draft agreement for the release of hostages provide for?

The US newspaper Washington Post, citing sources, reported earlier that Israel, the US and Hamas had reached a draft agreement to release dozens of women and children held hostage in Gaza in exchange for a five-day ceasefire.

Netanyahu said at a press conference on Saturday night (18/11) that “regarding the hostages, there are many unfounded rumors, many false reports. I would like to make the following clear: So far there has been no agreement. However, I want to promise: When there is something to say – we will let you know about it.’

According to APE-MPE, the release of hostages could begin within the next few days, barring a last-minute contingency, according to sources familiar with the detailed six-page draft agreement, the US newspaper revealed.
