The White House summoned China’s ambassador to Washington Jin Gang to denounce the escalation of tensions against Taiwan and reiterate that the United States does not seek to provoke a crisis in the region, according to a report by the Washington Post.
“Following China’s actions overnight, we summoned Ambassador Qin Gang to the White House to protest China’s provocative actions,” White House spokesman John Kirby told the Washington Post.
China’s Foreign Ministry announced a while ago that Beijing has decided to impose sanctions on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her immediate family in response to her “malicious” and “provocative” actions.
