The fiancé of a young American woman, the mysterious disappearance which has shocked the USA, whom the police consider a “person of interest for the investigation”, has also disappeared for a few days, according to his parents.
Gabriel Petito, 22, left New York in July with her partner Brian Londry, 23, for a four-month van ride whose stations the couple often shared on Instagram and YouTube, where he posted photos and videos.
But on September 1, Brian Londry returned alone to the van at their home in Florida.. On September 11, Gabriel Petito’s family informed authorities of her disappearance, saying they had not heard from her since late August.
Following the couple on social media for weeks, in the enchanting landscapes of the American West, internet users mobilized wanting to offer help in locating the young girl and the media is constantly recording the progress of the case.
Police say they are currently treating Brian’s disappearance, following that of Gabriel, as a “multiple disappearance case”.
“Once we have the details, we will make announcements,” North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison tweeted.
During their trip, we see the couple, in their social media posts, smiling, hugging and walking hand in hand on the beach.
However, in a video released by the police in Moab, a small town in Utah, they raised any concerns about the role of the 22-year-old American’s partner.
Gabi, as her family calls her, appears to be crying in a car after the police intervened after an argument between them.
The FBI has set up a dedicated hotline for anyone with information about the case, and a GoFundMe account has been set up to “raise money to assist in the search for Gabi Petito.” By Thursday, $ 45,000 had been raised.
