A man armed with a carbine opened fire at a shopping center in Greenwood, Indiana, United States, killing three people and injuring two others. The attacker was shot dead by an armed citizen, as reported by the local police.
Police rushed to the mall around 6pm (local time) after reports of shots fired. “It appears that a good Samaritan who was armed saw the attack in progress and shot the gunman,” said Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison. In total, four people were killed and two others were injured, he added.
“We are disgusted by another incident of this nature in our country,” commented Indianapolis Police Deputy Chief Chris Bailey.
Greenwood is a suburb of approximately 60,000 residents, south of Indianapolis.
