Usher said his Las Vegas wedding to Jennifer Goicoechea was a surprise not only to fans and the media, but also to his family.
The American singer said, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, that they took advantage of everyone being in the city and decided that they should make the union official there.
“It was an incredible moment that we thought was great for us,” Usher said. “My mom was there, her mom was there, the kids were there, our immediate family was there. No, no, no, let’s have a wedding now.”
The wedding was celebrated on February 11, right after the singer performed during the SuperBowl halftime and sang a 13-minute setlist with some of his biggest hits, including “Caught Up”. When the ceremony was still a secret, the CNN obtained access to the couple's marriage certificate and confirmed the union.
“We can confirm that Usher and Jennifer Goicoechea have taken the next step in their relationship and tied the knot on Sunday night in Las Vegas surrounded by close friends and family,” a rep for the singer told People magazine at the time.
