V. Kikilias – G. Karanikas: Cooperation to determine the context of the tourism business

The Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias met at the Ministry of Tourism with the President of the Hellenic Confederation of Trade and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) George Karanikas.

In his statements after the meeting, the Minister of Tourism stressed that the time has come to define the framework of the tourism business and pointed out that trade contributes significantly to the tourism product and tourism experience for the benefit of society and the economy.

On his part, the President of ESEE underlined that the precise definition of the tourism commercial enterprise, in cooperation with the tourism agents, will be able to contribute to the further growth of Greek tourism.

The following are the statements of Messrs. Kikilia and Karanika.

V. KIKILIAS: I met with the President of ESEE, Mr. Karanikas, with whom we cooperate on the issues of the obvious relationship between Greek tourism and Greek trade, which we will strengthen in the coming period.

I think the time has come to define the context of the tourism business. We believe that trade contributes significantly to the tourism product and the tourism experience and we want to find ways to support this joint effort, for the benefit of the average Greek family, Greek society, the country’s GDP and, of course, the commercial world.

It is obvious and self-evident that the trade flourishes in the tourist areas and at the same time gives additional strength and leverage to the Greek tourism.

I am very glad that we talked about this very important issue, Mr President, and I hope that we will find ways of further cooperation and added value. Thank you very much.

G. KARANIKAS: First of all, I would like to thank the Minister of Tourism for the reception and his kind words, but also for the fact that he understands exactly the importance of Greek trade in the field of tourism.

Greek trade contributes significantly to the country’s tourism product and the main thing that we explained today to the Minister is that we must define exactly the tourism trade company, which in cooperation with tourism agents will be able to contribute to the further growth of Greek tourism.

We thank him for this cooperation and we hope that it will be even more constructive in the future, in order to achieve all the goals set by the Ministry, but also in general all the factors of Tourism.
