Vanity Fair Stories 2022, Maria Schrader: «Me too, it happened to me too»

After the success of the previous four editions, the Vanity Fair Storiesthe largest fully live event of Vanity Fair which for the first time is staged at Giorgio Gaber Opera House in Milan (via Larga 14).

This year’s theme The change is you, stories that change the world. Many characters alternate on the stage who are an active part of the change: actors and directors, comedians and singers, writers, dancers, key figures of culture.

Among these too Maria Schraderactress and director, who, with already behind the beautiful series Unhortodox, presents Me toowhich recounts the investigation of journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey who investigated to bring to light the sexual harassment committed by producer Harvey Weinstein.
«And after that story, after that silence of conspiracy was broken, things changed: in America and Germany, for example, there are intimacy coordinators on the sets».

Maria Schrader tells of the solidarity that has arisen between the women, also because, starting to talk about it, it has been discovered that they have all happened to be harassed, annoyed, the target of pushed phrases: «I don’t know any woman who hasn’t had to deal with some kind of annoyance. It happened to me too: I was 23 and I had a very unpleasant experience with an actor much older than me. It was a mixture of something sensual and something vaguely violent. I then turned to the director of the show. And he replied with absolute nonchalance: welcome to the theatre. And so, since he wasn’t helping me, I turned to a lawyer”.
