Vehicle sales grow 20% in August compared to the previous year, says Fenabrave

Vehicle sales in Brazil rose 20.68% in August this year compared to the same period last year, with 208,493 new cars, vans, buses and trucks sold this month from 172,763 a year ago.

The data were released this Friday (2) by Fenabrave. When considering motorcycles and other vehicles, the federation reported that license plates registered a high of 12.6% in August, totaling 346,505 units.

Only in relation to automobiles (cars), there was growth of 29.46% in the annual comparison. Buses were the second best performing category, registering an increase of 26.23% in the period. In the case of light commercial vehicles, which considers vans and other utility vehicles, the increase was small, 0.92%, while trucks were the only segment in decline, after a decline of 2.76%.

According to the president of Fenabrave, Andreta Jr, the good results of autos and light vehicles indicate that the market is reaching a balance between supply and demand. “The supply crisis has cooled down a little and no longer prevents consumers from finding the desired model, except for a few specific cases. The numbers reflect this scenario,” he said.

When comparing the results of August with July of this year, all categories were up. There was growth of 14.57% in the monthly comparison, with an emphasis on buses, which had an increase of 31.33%.

“Despite the fact that we have two more working days in August, the result points to a clear trend towards a recovery in registrations in Brazil”, highlighted Andreta Jr.
