Eight people have so far died in floods in the northwestern state of Tachira Venezuelaas the country’s authorities announced on Friday.
The victims they were swept away by a rushing torrent which struck a camp in the town of Lobatera. Among the victims are four minorsaccording to local civil protection agency officials.
As reported by APE-MPE, the fate of two others from the Lobatera camp and a 35-year-old farmer from El Cobre is unknown, who was swept away on his motorcycle. Rescuers found the bike, but not the 35-year-old.
Many areas in the northwestern part of Venezuela were faced with extensive floods due to the heavy rains of the last few days. In a video from the city of Barquisimeto, roads turned into rivers can be seen.
