Visit of the Deputy Minister of Health Zoe Rapti to the Psychiatric Clinic of ‘Evangelismos’

Undersecretary of Health Zoe Rapti visited today the General Hospital of Athens “O Evangelismos”, where she met with Governor Anastasios Grigoropoulos, Deputy Governor Benjamin Batis, Director of Medical Services Gerasimos Mantzaris of the Psychiatric Department and Director of the Psychiatric Clinic, Dimitra Dragoumi.

During the meeting, the Undersecretary was briefed on the operation of the Psychiatric Department and discussed issues related to its operation and its interconnection with outpatient mental health structures, in light of the recent inclusion of mental health projects in the Recovery Fund.

The Undersecretary then toured the Psychiatric Clinic of the Hospital, to find out how to organize and provide mental health services to patients, where she met and talked with members of the health staff.

Finally, the Deputy Minister of Health met with representatives of the Hospital Workers’ Union, which was attended by its President, Cardiologist, George Ferentinos and Members of the Board.

At the end of the visit, the Undersecretary stated:

“Through my meetings with the Management of the Hospital and the representatives of the employees, but also through my visit to the Psychiatric Clinic, I realized the hard struggle of all for its better functioning, a struggle that intensified with the pandemic. At the same time, it emerged “Once again the need to organize Community-focused mental health services. Having secured 50 million euros from the Recovery Fund, we are gradually decongesting Hospitals and creating appropriate and specialized community structures for each population group.”
