The co-founder of Ethereum announced changes in the leadership of the non-profit organization Ethereum Foundation. Changes are needed to strengthen the technical component and interaction with developers of decentralized applications, explained Vitaly Buterin.
The co-founder of the second largest cryptocurrency by capitalization assured that the fund will strengthen interaction with the ecosystem and focus on promoting decentralization, countering censorship and protecting privacy.
He stated that the Ethereum Foundation will no longer engage in political lobbying or ideological issues. In addition, the organization will leave the development of the ecosystem to the discretion of independent participants.
The changes come after the fund’s work came under criticism from the community over questions about transparency of spending. In the spring of 2024, the organization introduced a conflict of interest policy after several members were appointed to positions in the EigenLayer protocol. Among them was developer Justin Drake, who later apologized to the community and stepped down from his advisory role, promising to focus on working for the Ethereum Foundation.
Earlier, Vitalik Buterin said that using the services of committees or intermediaries to verify transactions would be contrary to the concept of Ethereum and would disrupt the decentralization of the blockchain.
