One of the creators of the Ethereum network, Vitalik Buterin, sold his stake in the MakerDAO project for 353 ETH (about $578,000). This happened against the backdrop of how the founder of the organization Rune Christensen announced about plans to migrate to the Solana blockchain.
According to the Arkham Intelligence platform, September 2, 2023 Buterin sold 500,002 MKR via CoW protocol. For them, he received 353 ETH – $578,214 at the exchange rate at the time of writing.
This is the first sale from Buterin’s account since 2021, when he donated 100 MKR to the Covid-19 Fund. So far, he has not commented on his decision.
The Ethereum co-founder purchased 1,071 MKR in April 2018 when the token price was $905. At the time of the sale, the rate reached $1127, which brought a profit of 27%.
Amid Christensen’s announcement, the MKR jumped to $1,170, according to TradingView. Then there was a pullback to $1080. At the time of writing, the asset is trying to gain a foothold at $1140:
September 4, 2023 unknown major holder brought out from the Binance exchange 11,231 MKR in the amount of $12.3 million. Who he is and why he needs tokens is still unknown.
Later in the Discord channel of the Reflexer Finance protocol Buterin spoke in support of the RAI stablecoin. In his opinion, the platform could occupy a “middle niche” in the segment, supporting Ethereum and liquid staking in competition with large platforms, such as Lido Finance.
In a day, the price of the native Reflexer Finance FLX token jumped by more than 70% – from $7.3 to $16.08 at the moment, according to CoinMarketCap.
Notably, in January 2023, Buterin made $92,000 shorting RAI.
